Q: How long does it take to get to Stowe by car?

Q: How do I get there from here?
A: Stowe is easily reached by car. Train and bus services are available into Waterbury, only 20 minutes from Stowe.  Jet air service into Burlington International airport is only 40 minutes away, while the Stowe-Morrisville airport for smaller aircrafts is 7 miles north of Stowe village.  Rental cars and taxis are available in Burlington, Waterbury and in Stowe. If you plan on driving, follow these directions:
  • From Boston take I-93 65 miles north to Bow, N.H. Take I-89 120 miles north to Exit 10 in Waterbury, Vermont. Take a right off the exit and follow Rt. 100 north 10 miles to Stowe.
  • From Hartford, New York, Philadelphia, Washington and points south, take I-95 to I-91 North in Hartford. Take I-91 through Massachusetts into Vermont. At White River Junction, take I-89 north 61 miles to Exit 10 in Waterbury. Take a right off the exit and follow Rt. 100 north 10 miles to Stowe.
  • From Albany take I-87 north to Exit 20 at Glens Falls. Take 149 to Fort Ann, Rt. 4 north to Fair Haven, Rt. 22A north to Vergennes, Rt. 7 North to South Burlington, I-189 to I-89, then I-89 south to Exit 10 in Waterbury. Take a left off the exit and follow Rt. 100 north 10 miles to Stowe.
  • From Montreal take Rt. 10 east to Rt. 133. Take Rt 133 south to the U.S. border. Take I-89 south to Exit 10 in Waterbury. Take a left off the exit and follow Rt. 100 north 10 miles to Stowe.
  • From Toronto take Trans Canada Highway 401 east to Cornwall Head south from Cornwall, cross the St. Lawrence River and the U.S. border and pickup Rt. 37 south to Malone. Take Rt. 11 North to Rouses Point. Cross the bridge over Lake Champlain and pickup Rt. 78 in Alburg. Continue along 78 to Swanton and then take I-89 south to Exit 10 in Waterbury. Take a left off the exit and follow Rt. 100 north 10 miles to Stowe.

Q: Where are your offices located?
A: Our Mountain Road Office is located on Route 108. Follow Route 108 for about 1.5 Miles and our office is located on the right after the Stoweflake.
Our Village Office is located at 62 Main Street. Across from the Town Hall.
Our Morrisville Office is located at 200 Park Street. Take Route 100 North into Morrisville Village. Continue straight at the intersection onto Upper Main Street/VT 12. Bear slight left onto Park Street/VT 15A. 200 Park Street will be on your right.
Q: How far is the airport from Stowe?
A: Burlington International Airport is 40 miles from Stowe - An easy 45 minute drive. The Morrisville-Stowe Airport is 7 miles away and offers limited charter services as well as service to private planes.
Q: Do I need four wheel drive?
A: No. Stowe Village is at the junction of Routes 100 and 108, which are well maintained year-round. Of course, four wheel drive never hurts on a snowy day.
Q: What religious services are available in Stowe?
A: There are many different places of worship in Stowe and surrounding communities. Stowe Area Association can provide visitors with a list of area churches and synagogues.
Q: Do any Stowe properties offer Canadian at par?
A: There are a few properties who offer Canadian at par and many that offer special packages and promotions for our Canadian visitors. Stowe Area Association can provide with a list of those properties.
Q: What do we do if it rains?
A: Just because the weather isn't cooperating doesn't mean there's nothing to do! You can shop, visit nearby museums, enjoy a swim in Stowe's new community swimming pool, The Swimming Hole, go to Ben & Jerry's, take a tour of the area, watch glass blowing at Little River Hot Glass Studio, the possibilities are dizzying.
Q: What types of shops do you have?
A: Stowe is home to a wide range of specialty shops showcasing: gifts, crafts, art, jewelry, fine clothes, recreational clothing & gear, specialty foods and wines, and furniture.
Q: Do you have any outlet stores?
A: No - However there are outlet stores within a reasonable driving distance.
Q: Where should I stay to be close to shops and restaurants?
A: Stowe is small enough that you're never too far from the activity!
Q: What is the night life like in Stowe?
A: Lively! There is almost always something going on in Stowe. From movies and live shows to local and national bands. Ask what's happening at the front desk of your hotel, or stop by the Visitor's Information Center on Main Street.
Q: Where is the Mountain in relation to the Village?
A: An easy 6.5 miles north along Rt. 108.
Q: Are there any cabins available in Stowe?

Q: Can we get married in Stowe?
A: Getting married in Stowe is quite popular. Weddings are available in every flavor from a simple civil service, to elaborate and traditional church and non-denominational weddings. Pall Spera is registered as a Justice of the Peace for the town of Stowe and would be happy to discuss the options available to you.
Q: Are civil unions performed in Stowe?
A: Stowe's many varied hotels have hosted numerous civil unions.
Q: What lodges have indoor pools?
A: Trapp Family Lodge, Stoweflake, Northern Lights, Commodore's, Town & Country, Golden Eagle, Mountain Road Resort, Grey Fox, Mountainside Condominiums, Village Green Condominiums, Mountaineer, Stowehof Inn and the Season's Pass Inn all have indoor pools. Many other properties have outdoor pools. Almost all of Stowe's lodging properties have hot tubs.
Q: How high is Mount Mansfield?
A: At 4395 feet, Mount Mansfield is Vermont's highest peak. The ski area has a lift-served drop of 2200 vertical feet.
Q: How many trails does the ski area maintain?
A: There are 119 trails, providing some of the best skiing in the east.

Q: What is average temperature by season?
A: Spring 45 degrees, summer 75 degrees, fall 45 degrees, Winter 20 degrees. These are averages however, and conditions can vary widely from those above.
Q: What kind of clothes should I pack?
A: Casual and recreational dress is recommended. In summer bring a sweater or windbreaker for early morning and evening wear. Warm clothes are always recommended for winter. Don't forget a hat!
Q: How much snow does Stowe get?
A: The Stowe area gets between 250-300 inches, or 20-25 feet of snow per year. The ski area adds to their total with state of the art snow making equipment.
