How to Skip a Rock

How to Skip a Rock

Step 2

How to skip a rock: Select a rock that is round, flat and smooth. Stand at the edge of placid water. Hold the rock flat side down, curling your index around the edge. Aim the rock as though you were going to make it fly across the surface of the water. Throw with a wide sweep of the arm, releasing the rock mid-way through the motion. Count the skips. Start over. Time has stopped. Savor it.

Step 1

Go on tour to find your dream home. Visit properties that feature ponds, brooks or a lake. Imagine spending an afternoon reading quietly by the water, until the sensation of feeling truly at home takes over and the childlike voice within invites you to play.
