A quick visit to the Go Stowe Events Calendar reveals a list of 38 activities for the month of July alone. Stowe has long been a community that offers an amazing range of cultural, sports and leisure venues to visitors and residents alike.

What is especially interesting about the Stowe community, and the activities available here, is the general atmosphere that pervades every event and venue. Within moments, visitors can no longer distinguish between being a guest and being at home. Why is that?

I experienced this years ago, upon my introduction to Stowe. I was only three years old. Even then, my young and inexperienced mind noticed something outstanding. Think of the restaurants or shops you have entered. Have you ever noticed how rare it is to find unwelcoming, unfriendly or unprofessional waiters, front desk attendants or store clerks in Stowe? “It must be something in the water”, my father used to joke.

I do not think it is the water, but I do believe it is a matter of attitude; the sort of attitude of people who are fully present to their surroundings and to each other. I remember our first encounter with the staff at The Golden Eagle. The young man behind the front desk at the time was not only dashingly gorgeous for the little tike that I was (I even remember his name: David Evancich), he was conscientious and fully present. He even took care of landscaping. At every turn, we encountered dedicated and hard working folks, regardless of their status or age.

Do you realize everything it takes to put together the many activities that take place in Stowe every day and every month? All the brainstorming, scheduling, building, moving, designing and especially the dedication of those who come together and consistently produce fantastic shows and events. This is no small accomplishment. Can you imagine all that is required of anyone to press forward and offer the very best in the midst of such horrid weather as we have experienced lately?

I think I have nailed it. It is all about consistency. Stowe consistently delivers quality services, product and entertainment based in a high level of personal and joint integrity and adherence to unwaveringly high standards. The quaint little Vermont town we heard about on radio advertisements when I was a child is more than quaint. It is vibrant.
